On The Bench - Inspiration Strikes!

I came back so inspired by the techniques I learned from UK Artist Jenny Muncaster in Frankfurt last week that I immediately grabbed out a big illustration board, slapped down some of my favorite collage elements (poetry and dress pattern tissue), drizzled on Pebeo Glazing Resin, liberally painted and poured on Pebeo liquid alkyd oil paints (Vitrail, Fantasy Prisme and Fantasy Moon), scattered metal leaf flakes, and accented with Mirror Effect transfer foil to create this 30 in x 40 in artwork. Thank you Jenny!!!

There's just something about red, blue and purple that have been calling me out to paint in large amounts lately?! What's been inspiring you recently? Is it a color, an artist you follow, taking a walk, attending workshops, reading a great book, being around other artists? Please share what inspires you to create in the comments below.

Jivin' With The Peace Mural Foundation

Wow! What a great time it was presenting a Pebeo Paints workshop today to a group of fantastically curious and talented interns and artists at the Peace Mural Foundation in Miami Beach, Florida. The theme for the mural we worked on is 'Save The Oceans', so the artwork all had something to do with underwater scenes and Peace doves. Thanks to the AMAZING energetic artist, gallerist and Foundation matriarch Anna (Huong) for inviting me to share my passion with her group! :D

If you want to know more about and to offer to help the Peace Mural Foundation, contact them through their website at www.peacemural.org.

Peace Out and Happy Arting!  :D  Tristina

Miami Utrecht 15 Year Celebration with Pebeo Paints

CONGRATULATIONS to the Miami Utrecht / Dick Blick Art Supply store for celebrating their 15th anniversary yesterday with special discounts and activities for store customers. According to store manager, Corinna Burrough, the Pebeo Paints demo I gave by far had the largest group of inquisitive artists in attendance! And, boy, did we have some fun!!!

Pebeo Prisme Fantasy Paint on Liquid Art Panel

Folks were excited to see the NEW Pebeo Liquid Art Panels and how the Pebeo Fantasy Prisme (honeycomb effect), Fantasy Moon (pounded metal effect), Vitrail (stained glass effect) and colored Resin paints are used to make poured paintings in the panels. I also introduced the beautiful shimmery Dyna Acrylic paints, bright Florescent Acrylic paints and the Pebeo specialty mediums (like my personal favorite, the clear / black / red / yellow sand Texture Gel).

The Cerne Relief outliner dimensional paints got a nod of understanding when I explained they can be used to create custom raised designs on any surface that can then be filled with the liquid Pebeo paints. And, at the end of the presentation the Ohh's and Ahh's came out when the artists saw how easy the Pebeo Metal Effect Leaves are to use on sticky Mixtion Guilding Paste.

I'd like to give a HUGE Thank You to all who attended, including some of my favorite students! ;)

Love for Encaustic Wax Painting on Paper

Enjoyed another wildly successful workshop in Miami all day Saturday, Dec 14, at Romero Hidalgo Artist's Studio in the Red Road Arts District! The students had a blast learning techniques for working with hot encaustic wax paints making monotype prints and modifying the prints with oil pastel sticks, making encaustic-bound paper collages, and encaustic wax painting directly on paper with metal leaf enhancement. A huge THANK YOU to Sonia Hidalgo for inviting me to Miami to teach this workshop. She runs a classy operation and has awesome students!
